Following in Royal Footsteps
“I am the child of a KING who is not moved by the world because my GOD is with me and goes before me. I do not fear because I am HIS.”
It’s no secret that my husband and I both worked for the Happiest Place on Earth once upon a time. It’s also not a secret that we had the opportunity to play a few characters from time to time (you can see more about that in this post and this one). So I think it’s safe to say that having two parents who played royalty could create some difficult shoes to fill, but we have chosen to teach them at a young age that following in royal footsteps is so much more than a costume.
Portraying royal characters taught my husband and I many lessons, some of which we will pass along to our children, but a few lessons didn’t come with dressing up, some have a much higher significance.
We thought it might be fun to share those royal life lessons here, if nothing else for our kids to read some day and recall the important training we tried to impart on them.
To our Rosalie Belle…
Always make sure your Prince extends a hand to you to help you walk down a staircase, especially if you are in heels.
Never let him kiss you on the lips on the first date.
Always take him up on an invitation to dance, you can tell a lot about a Prince by the way he leads you on the dance floor.
If you really like him always leave a piece of something behind so he has a perfect excuse to come and find you again.
Your earthly father was your first love, don’t forget he set the bar for any Prince to come after.
And remember this my sweet child…you are the “daughter of a royal birth, your Father is King of Heaven and earth. Your spirit was born in the courts on high. A child beloved, a princess are you.”
To our Colton Jackson…
You may already know by now, but in order to be the Prince of her dreams you have to learn it is not about you, but all about her.
Always assist her walking up the stairs, especially if she is in heels.
Never kiss her on the lips on the first date.
Never miss the opportunity to ask her to dance.
If she really likes you she will leave a piece of something behind, take that as a sign to pursue her.
Your mother was your first love so don’t forget about her when you find your hearts true desire.
And remember this my sweet child, you are the “son of a royal birth, your Father is King of Heaven and earth. Your spirit was born in the courts on high. A child beloved, a prince are you.”
Kids outfits borrowed from YOUR FAIRY GODMOTHER; a step above the rest for costume rentals. If you are looking for a costume for Halloween, a special birthday party, photoshoot or want them for a day at one of the Disney parks, she will even ship it to a resort!
