Party Fun

A Meow-tastic Cat Birthday Party

Hold onto your cat ears, because we recently hosted a meow-tastic cat themed birthday party. It was complete with a pretend cat adoption center, cat-tastic decorations, and a menu that would make even the finickiest of feline friends drool (just kidding)! Our daughter Rosalie LOVES cats, so she wanted to have a cat themed party this year. She really wanted actual cats at the party, but because the rest of the family is allergic to cats, we opted for a pretend cat party instead…

The Cat Adoption Center

As guests arrived at our cat-themed extravaganza, they were greeted by a charming pretend cat adoption center. With stuffed cats of all colors, each in their own cat house. Each guest had the opportunity to choose their new furry friend. Once a selection was made, they received an adorable adoption certificate with their chosen cat’s name (I found the free printable on Pinterest).

Each guest also got to take home a soft and cuddly cat stuffy to remind them of the day’s adventures. These fluffy companions were the purr-fect party favor.

Decorating Cat Houses

To add a personal touch to their newly adopted cats’ homes, we provided cat-themed stickers and colorful pens for the kids to decorate. I found the “houses,” which were really gift boxes, and stickers on Amazon. All we did was cut holes in the gift boxes so the cats could stick their heads out, then we lined it with washi tape. You can shop all our supplies (plus, Rosie’s cat dress) by clicking THIS LINK (affiliate link).

Cat-Inspired Fashion

Guests were encouraged to embrace their inner cat with a variety of feline-themed accessories. Temporary cat tattoos adorned arms and hands and cat nail stickers added a little more fun to the party. Both of these were gifted from Petit Fetti.

Meow-tastic Decorations

We had everything from cat balloons, stuffed kittens in various poses, one large kitty face above the mantel with a banner saying “Meow, Let’s Pawty,” complete with balloon arch. The table had cat-themed plates, flowers and yarn (of course). Plus, I printed out photos of our daughter holding kittens over the last few years.

The Cat-tastic Menu

No birthday party is complete without a delectable spread, and our cat-themed party was no exception. Here’s a glimpse of the mouthwatering delights we served:

Cat Sandwiches & treats

Our sandwiches were not just delicious, they were also super cute! We used cat-shaped cookie cutters to create sandwiches with a feline twist. Purr-fectly bite-sized, these sandwiches disappeared faster than you could say “meow.” Plus, we had to have cat treats (just a bowl full of fishy crackers).

Milk Bar

What’s a cat party without milk? Our milk bar featured two flavors of milk; chocolate and classic white. Guests sipped on their choice of “kitty milk” from adorable cat-themed cups.

Cat Cupcakes & Cake

Each cupcake was topped with a little cat face that we made with black frosting for ears, chocolate chips for a nose and sour patch candy for the whiskers. Even though they weren’t exactly what I had ordered from the bakery, we made it work. The cake was a small personal cake from Ralphs and we just spruced up the ears a little.

Cat Oreos

Oreos got a feline makeover with cute cat faces. These treats were super easy to make with just some frosting that we made at home and a piping bag. Fun to eat, and they disappeared in a snap!

The Cat’s Pajamas of Parties

Our cat-themed birthday party was a roaring success. From the pretend cat adoption center to the delicious cat-inspired treats, it was a day filled with pawsitively precious memories.
