How to Coordinate Family Outfits for Vacation
“Life was made for good family and great adventures.”
I get asked about how I pack for our family vacations all the time. I love coordinating our outfits ahead of time so when we wake up each day we are ready to go without much work. It does take quite a bit of time, but it is so worth it in the end. Here are some tips for on how to coordinate family outfits for vacation…
- See what you already have in your closets. Pull out coordinating colors and lay them into groups.
- Make sure things still fit. Kids are constantly growing, you don’t want to pack something that doesn’t fit anymore. Only buy necessary items that no longer fit, borrow from family or friends for things you may never wear again.
- Check weather on your location, but also bring options for layering. I.E. extra leggings and a sweater that goes with many different outfits is best.
- Consider your activities. Will you be mostly having beach days? Hiking? Nice dinner’s out? Plan to re-use things like jeans, shorts, shoes. You only need to bring one pair of tennis shoes because they weigh more. I also only bring one pair of “nicer” shoes that can go with all my dresses.
- Lay out each day for each person with socks, underwear and any additional accessories like bows, jewelry, etc… I also take a photo of each day just in case I can’t remember while on vacation.
- Put each day in a zip lock baggie and label it with the day you plan to wear it (either day 1, day 2 or the location like Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, etc…) I got this idea from my friend Justine, from Little Dove Blog!!!
- Squeeze out as much air out of the ziplock bags and place them in your suitcase. I like to lay my shoes on the bottom first, then the bags, then any last minute toiletry bags on top.
- If you are flying make sure to jump on the scale with your bag and check the weight! Nothing is worse than having to move things around at the airport while people are waiting behind you. Remember jeans and heavy shoes weigh the most so try to eliminate as many as possible.
I always share our packing process on my Instagram stories, so make sure you are following me over there to see it all in action!;) And now here are the links to most of the things we wore on our last trip to Disney World and the Disney Cruise. I get asked about our outfits and accessories so I thought it would be easiest to put it all in one place. Anything I didn’t mention specifically was probably purchased too long ago and is no longer for sale. If you have any questions leave them below…HAPPY SHOPPING!;)
I do use affiliate links, which means I would make a very small commission if you purchased something from here. I greatly appreciate if you shop through my site, which would allow me to continue writing and working from home.;)
