Magical Media Retreat 2023
The Magical Media Retreat came back for 2023 and it was even better than before. What is the Magical Media Retreat? It is a retreat for bloggers and content creators that are looking for further education, inspiration and networking opportunities for their brand or company. In case you missed the re-cap from last year, you can check that out HERE, otherwise keep reading for the details from this year.
Magical Media Retreat Hosts
Justine from Little Dove Blog, has been blogging for over a decade and is a pro at all things. Whenever I have a question, I go straight to Justine. Kim from The Parentologist, is not only a business mastermind, but is also a doctor/licensed play therapist. I have know both for years and they are the real deal, so genuine and truly want the best for others. And of course, I was a host too!;)
Location
The Hilton Anaheim was the perfect location for our retreat. I’ve stayed at a handful of Anaheim hotels, but this particular Hilton left me feeling very impressed with every single detail. From our meeting rooms to the food to the customer service and attention to detail. You can see a full review of the hotel, rooms and more in THIS BLOG POST dedicated just to them.
Key note Speaker
Our keynote speaker was Amber Mamian from Global Munchkins, who has made a full time career out of blogging for almost two decades and had so much great knowledge to share with our attendees. She and her husband run their business along with organizing schedules for their 6 kids ranging from toddlers to college. She has personally inspired me with her travel content and original family friendly activities, placing a high value on quality content.
Title Sponsors for the magical media retreat 2023
We were so blessed to have two title sponsors this year. Each also had the opportunity to come and speak about their companies to our attendees.
Get Away Today
Get Away Today is a travel company that offers exclusive discounts for theme park tickets, hotels and so much more. I have been an affiliate partner with them for years and love that they have such great customer service. Kim, one of the women behind the company, came to talk to all of our attendees not just about Get Away Today, but how affiliate marketing works and the benefits of it for a content creator. Even after 7 years of blogging it was a great session for me and a good refresher on why affiliate marketing works best when it is a genuine fit for your brand. Use code: PRINCESSMOM for an additional discount.
June Care
June Care started with a need during the pandemic and has grown exponentially. Nicole, the marketing woman behind June Care, came to speak to us about the ins and outs of starting a new business, helping a community and the benefits of filling a need for families.
June Care matches parents with other parents for child care. Essentially, a stay at home parent can sign up with June Care to host play dates with another child that is in need of care. If you are in need of child care you can sign up with June Care to find a parent looking for an extra job that works around their schedule. Each parent goes through a full screening/background check and you can even set up a zoom or in person meeting to get to know one another.
Honestly, I think it’s such a great idea for both the parent needing child care and the parent looking to make a little extra money, but wants to bring their kids to work with them!;) Their services are all over California and they are looking to expand very soon to some neighboring states. Make sure to check them out.
Product Sponsors for the magical media retreat 2023
We had SO many amazing product sponsors this year I want to recognize each one because I truly use and love all of their products!! I hope you will check them out…
Ruby Jade & Lilly Jade:
Lily Jade started first with the best and most attractive looking diaper bags a mom had ever seen. Then years later Ruby Jade came along with smaller purses/clutches for the nights you didn’t need the diaper bag. The quality of their bags are exceptional and I love the strong faith these sister companies have and display regularly. Each attendee went home with one of the Ruby Jade bags and one lucky winner went home with a Lilly Jade backpack.
Pink Desert:
Enter some of the cutest styles! We were honored to wear items from Pink Desert for the retreat and each attendee went home with $20 gift cards so they could also pick something out for themselves. I love that all of their clothes are modest, but not frumpy, make sure to check them out. You shop my pink dress HERE or my light blue sparkle skirt HERE or my “let her fly” t-shirt HERE.
MarsQuest:
I have to be honest, I was hesitant to try a new company for sunglasses because I have used the same ones for the last few years. I wasn’t sure if they would hold up compared to my old favorites, but I was pleasantly surprised. Every time I wear them I get compliments and they don’t slip off or hurt from being too tight. Here is a direct link to the ones I am wearing in the below photo.
Wallicases:
Where have I been that this was my first time hearing about Wallicases?!? Not only are their cases cute, but they actually have another purpose besides keeping my phone covered. I love that there is a spot to secure an ID card or credit card, PLUS you can use the loop to keep your phone secure on your hand. AND did I mention the strap on the back can also be used to prop your phone up? Genius! Shop the exact one in the photo below HERE.
Erin Condren:
I have loved and used Erin Condren products even before I was a blogger. Their planners are so versatile and there are styles for everyone. They have specific ones for students, teachers, busy parents, even faith based journals. I am loving my new “planny pack” which I can slip onto a journal with a few highlighters and pens and take with me to church. You can shop the planner or journal which are both under $15.
Twirl in Pink:
The cutest, most dainty jewelry for mom or daughter (or sister or friend). I love my initial necklace and the no back earrings (you’ll never have to worry about loosing another backing again). Check out her shop HERE.
Olive and Emma Co.:
I didn’t get the hype over glass jars as cups, but Olive and Emma Co. have made me a believer. Their designs are really simple and beautiful, plus it does make you feel a little more fancy drinking from their cups. She also has other cute items in her shop, so make sure to check it out!
Tubby Todd:
I have used Tubby Todd products for years on both the kids and me. I love their soaps and lotions, they are great for sensitive skin and have very light scents. You can shop their products HERE and use code “FORYOUJENNYROSE23” for a discount.
Lesser Evil Popcorn:
I am not usually a popcorn lover, I don’t love kernels getting stuck in my teeth, it’s just not my thing…BUT…enter Lesser Evil Popcorn and I have renounced my poor attitude on this snack. I can eat one of their bags of popcorn all by myself in under 2 minutes (it’s that good). They have lots of fun flavors and I can’t wait to try them all!
Ride Art Bus:
Ride Art Bus is a public transportation company in Anaheim that can take you all over with just a few dollars for a day pass. From Disneyland to the Garden Walk to the Honda Center and more, make sure to check out their destinations on their website.
Team Building Activities
Cocktail Reception:
We started our retreat out with a welcome reception hosted by the Hilton Anaheim in their Vista Lounge on the 14th floor. It was the perfect location and setting for our evening. The food was incredible, I’ve been dreaming about it ever since we left! The evening was filled with good conversations, some group ice breakers, amazing food and lots of networking.
Splitsville Bowling Night:
Located at Downtown Disney, Splitsville is a great location for bowling, food and fun. Splitsville hosted our bowling portion of the evening and June Care hosted our drinks and appetizers. If you are headed to the Disneyland area make sure to set up a reservation because it does tend to be busy on the weekends.
Video Challenge:
We like to give applicable advice to our attendees while at the retreat, which is why we like to do a video challenge before they leave. For the second year in a row we have done a large group video to get people out of their comfort zone and have fun. We also encouraged everyone to team up to do a collaborative reel with one other attendee to broaden their audiences.
Photographer
Once again we had the amazing Captivating by Amanda as our photographer. She knocked it out of the park last year and again this year. We have her do headshots for each attendee so that they have new shots for their websites and/or social profiles. I’ve learned you can never have too many fresh/updated photos to use when you work online. Amanda does family photography in the SoCal area if you are looking for someone for your next shoot!
Our night night, 3 day retreat was filled with super informative sessions, applicable steps to grow your business and fun team building activities. If you are interested in attending our next Magical Media Retreat make sure you are following the hosts for announcements and ticket information for next year.
