The Year of Pixar
“If you focus on what you left behind you will never be able to see what lies ahead.” -Ratatouille
It is no surprise that Pixar has grown tremendously over the past few years. Some of our favorite Disney characters are from the beloved Pixar movies. With that being said, this is going to be the year of Pixar!! Here is why…
(I learned about this exciting news while at the Disney Social Media Mom Celebration. I paid for my ticket, but at a discount. All opinions are mine.)
- Disneyland opens Pixar Fest which opens up April 13th, 2018.
- They are bringing back the Pixar Play Parade at Disneyland with all your favorite characters like Woody, Buzz and floats from Up, Inside Out and much more.
-
- A new Pixar nighttime spectacular called “Together Forever” including all new fireworks, music and images to be shown on the castle.
- Also making a come back is Paint the Night Parade at California Adventure.
- There will be Pixar shorts playing in Hollywood land at California Adventure, so grab some 3-D glasses and grab a spot to watch.
- Pixar Pals will be at Paradise Gardens, also at California Adventure.
- And of course there will be Pixar-themed food at places like Alien Pizza Planet, Galactic Grill and lots more.
- Disneyland also opens it’s Pixar Pier on June 23rd, 2018.
- The pier will be re-imagined for all things Pixar. Starting with the new Incredicoaster, which was the old “California Screamin'” getting a whole new facelift.
-
- Toy Story mania will remain but its surroundings will now be an Inside Out themed neighborhood. Even Mickey’s Fun Wheel will feature 24 gondolas with different Pixar characters.
-
- All of the boardwalk games will also be themed to Pixar.
- Another huge change is the remodeling of the old Ariel’s Grotto (a princess dining experience I had the personal experience of working at for quiet some time). Now it will be known as the “Lamplight Lounge” but will still serve its famous lobster nachos and have a view of the World of Color show.
-
- Eventually the area with the Silly symphony swings, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, etc…will transform into a land called Paradise Park.
- And in 2019, even the carousel will be Jessie’s Critter Carousel with 56 of her adorable friends.
- Disney Shanghai opens Toy Story Land on April 26th, 2018.
- Guests here will get to experience three new rides; Rex’s Racer, Slinky Dog Spin and Woody’s Roundup.

- Disney World opens Toy Story Land on June 30th, 2018.
- When stepping into this new land visitors will shrink down to toy size to join the fun.
-
- Guests can ride on the all new Slinky Dog Dash, a roller coaster with Slinky as the vehicle.
-
- Families can also take a spin on the Alien Swirling Saucers, here little green aliens twirl about in flying saucers with guests in their own rocket ship toys, while “The Claw” hangs above.
- Toy Story Mania remains, but with an added track so more people can experience this favorite ride.
-
- Guests can eat at Woody’s Lunch Box with walk up window service.
Check out the progress of Toy Story Land at both Disney World and Disney Shanghai! If you could pick either one to go to, which one would you want to see?
I can’t wait to go!! Toy Story has always been a favorite! That slinky dog dash will be the new kid favorite I’m sure! Thank you for posting this and putting us all in the loop with what’s been going on over there. I asked cast members last time we were there and some of them didn’t even know!
We need to plan a playdate and take the kids!
Oh my gosh, it all sounds like so much fun! The parks with the Toy Story Lands sound SO fun!
Can’t wait for you guys to see it!
