Top 5 Things to do at ToonTown
We had the honor of being hosted by Disneyland for the first look inside the reimagined ToonTown at Disneyland. There is so much more open space and tons of interactive play areas for kids. It is a great place to meet characters, plus, it now has three attractions. Here is our list of the top 5 things to do at ToonTown…
1. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
The newest attraction to hit Disneyland is Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Tucked inside the reimagined ToonTown, it is the perfect backdrop for this ride. We had experienced it once at Disney World and couldn’t wait for it to make its debut in California. The Runaway Railway has a super cute cue (look for hidden Mickey’s) which leads you to the train ride that is actually trackless. It is a perfect ride for all ages and heights, you can ride by waiting in the stand-by cue or by purchasing an individual Lightening Lane.
2. Characters at ToonTown
Mickey’s house
An interactive walk through experience to visit and take photos with Mickey Mouse. You will either get to see him in his tuxedo clothes or in his Sorcerer Mickey outfit. They also have a photo pass photographer there so you can get a good family photo.
Minnie’s House
Minnie’s house is similar to Mickey’s house in that it is an interactive cue which eventually leads to Minnie outside near her tea party set up. There are lots of cute photo ops along the way, so enjoy the journey, not just the destination. There is also a photo pass photographer at this location.
Goofy
Goofy can be found around his play ground area, in front of his house. Sometimes he does wander a little bit, but he is hard to miss.
Donald
Donald likes to hang out in front of his boat, near his duck pond.
Daisy
Daisy can be found walking around ToonTown, possibly on a grassy area near the shade.
Pete
Pete is the newest character to Disneyland and the perfect addition to ToonTown. We spotted him near a shady spot next to Minnie’s house.
3. Interactive Play Areas at ToonTown
CenTOONial PARK
In the center of CenTOONial park is the fun Mickey & Minnie fountain, inviting kids to play in the water. Nearby is a tree inspired by a tree young Walt Disney would daydream under in his hometown of Marceline, Missouri. Sculpted roots provide an opportunity for kids to play, crawl and explore.
Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard
Goofy’s Play Yard and house were a HUGE hit with our kids. They loved the slides, interactive activities and the space to just play and be a kid.
Donald’s Duck Pond
This area is going to be so great for kids that want to cool down on warm days. It wasn’t turned on when we were there, but there is going to be a water feature/splash pad area near Donald’s boat. We can’t wait to go back and try this out when the water is turned on.
4. Have a Picnic at ToonTown
Of course if you are in ToonTown, you will probably get hungry from all that playing. There are two places you can get food, then take to the grass for a picnic.
Cafe Daisy
Here you can find options like…
- Pepperoni (or cheese) Pizza Flop-Over (which can be made gluten free, I tried this and thought it was just a little too much dough for me)
- Daisy Dog
- Spring Garden Wrap (which you can ask without a wrap to be gluten free, I got this and enjoyed it, I would get it again)
- Potato Chips
- Cinnamon Sugar Donuts (which are a must)
- Kids Mini-Corn Dogs
- Kids Pepperoni or Cheese pizza
- Mini Mac and Cheesy
- Watermelon Lemonade (which is a MUST)
Good Boy! Market
This location is more for the quick snack and go. For $25.99 you can get an actual picnic basket, then pick 3 food items and 1 drink. If you want to also have a picnic blanket, plus basket and snacks that is $36.99 You can also just buy snacks or slushees individually. You can find snacks like…
- Banana, Cuties, Grapes or Green Apples
- Fruit Bar
- Baby Bell Cheese
- Gold Fish Crackers
- Dried Fruit Mix
- Granola Bars
- Yogurt Smoothie
- Fig Bar (gluten free)
5. Chip & Dale’s Gadget Coaster
This was the first rollercoaster our kids ever rode and we still love it even today! Height requirement is only 35″ and once kids are 7 years old (or older) they don’t have to sit in the same row as their adult. We can now have the kids sit in front of us and we get the enjoy the view behind them.
Honorable mention goes to EngineEar Souvenirs shop, they had some adorable items just for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

It looks so great! I’m so glad this area got some much-needed TLC.
Yes it did, and I love the way it turned out. It’s great that it is also more handicapped equipped.
