Party Fun

A Sewing Themed Birthday Party

Our Rosalie Belle turned 11 and she wanted something a little different than the typical birthday party. She’s been curious about sewing, so we decided to host her party at a local sewing studio — and it was “sew” much fun! 🎉✂️

The best part? The studio provided everything: sewing machines, materials, and even a guided sewing lesson. That meant I could keep my focus on the fun extras like food and just a few sweet decorations. Looking for more party ideas? Make sure to check them out HERE.

Invitation

I couldn’t find anything on e-vite that I liked, so I actually designed my own invitation on Canva. I thought it turned out pretty cute, so I wanted to leave it here for you to give you some inspiration.

Activities: Hands-On Sewing Fun

Instead of the usual bounce house or craft table, the kids got to learn a brand-new skill. The sewing studio set everything up and walked the kids through step-by-step instructions. Each child had their own machine, fabric, and project to complete.

They were so proud of what they made — and it doubled as a party favor they could take home. The hands-on aspect made it engaging for everyone, and it felt like the perfect mix of fun and educational.

I also had a sewing themed bingo game for anyone that finished early and needed something to do. I filled a jar with some candy as prizes and kept it very simple.

Decor: Simple & Sweet

Since the party was held mostly inside the sewing studio, we didn’t need to go overboard on decorations. The studio actually supplied a banner and some balloons. Outside we set up our food area with a few colorful balloons, a simple birthday banner, and colorful tableware. Sometimes less is more — especially when the activity itself already steals the show. Food: Easy & Kid-Friendly

I kept the food super simple — because let’s be honest, the kids were way more interested in sewing than sitting down for a full meal! We served pizza, some fruit, and of course, a cookie cake, per the request of the birthday girl.

Final Thoughts

Hosting a birthday party at a sewing studio was such a unique experience. It took the stress off me since the studio handled the activity, and it gave the kids a memory (and skill!) they’ll hold onto long after the party. Even our son got into the spirit of sewing and made a pillow too. If you’re looking for something a little out-of-the-box for your child’s next birthday, I can’t recommend a sewing-themed celebration enough. If you live in our SoCal area we used Stitch House Studio, and they were absolutely fantastic (and so patient) with all the kids. There is also Fashion Camp that we have tried before too, a little bigger, so it just depends on what you are wanting.
