Creating your own Mom Space

“In my own little corner, in my own little chair, I can be whatever I want to be…” -Roger & Hammerstein’s Cinderella

I’ve been blogging for two and a half years now and the more work and effort I put into it, the more I want to work and put effort into it. I never in a million years thought I would be doing what I am today, but obviously God had way bigger dreams for me than I ever did. Which is why I have actually given myself permission to really dream big this year and take a little space to call my own. A little corner, in my own room, with a little chair that’s all mine.

I have to admit that I haven’t been the most organized when it comes to my blogging and work life. I usually take my lap-top around the house; write in the living room while the hubby sits next to me, write in our bed, occasionally sit in our office. I finally got a planner for 2017, which was a huge improvement from the previous year, but I knew this year I needed to up my game if I wanted to get even more serious.

So I decided to contact my favorite planner company to see if they would help me get started on a little “office” makeover. I knew once I had the planner it would inspire me to clean out the old and start with the new.

Enter Erin Condren. Last year I actually posted on Facebook that I was looking for a new planner and hands down most people recommended Erin Condren and I can now see why. Her planners are amazing. You can customize whatever you are needing for your type of lifestyle. Last year I went with a larger planner that had everything in one and it really did have it all, but I have to admit it wasn’t always easy to throw in a purse.

This year they gifted me their HardBound Life Planner which is a weekly planning system, but also gives you a monthly view as well. I love that it can fit in my purse so I can take it with me anywhere. There is also plenty of space in the back for notes or list making.

They also sent me the Budget book, which is perfect to keep track of our finances and any potential blogging jobs I may acquire during the year.

In addition, I also received the Meal Planner book which is the perfect size to take to the grocery store with me. It has a weekly layout to plan breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as my shopping list and meal prep strategy. I think my husband might appreciate me attempting to stay on top of the meal planning the year!;)

My favorite book might very well be the gratitude journal. I love it because it gives me ideas of things that I might want to remember; like moments that made me laugh, unique things about the day, small victories, wonderful smells or even things I learned. Sometimes by the end of the day I get caught up in forgetting the good moments, this journal will definitely keep me on track for staying positive in the new year.

So I cleared out the junk that didn’t bring me joy and made a space that I now love (see the before and after pics below). As you can see, they even included a wall calendar that has some of the best quotes (I love a good quote, if you didn’t notice I always start each blog post with one) and a tabletop calendar to keep me motivated. I feel so much more organized and ready to tackle the new year. Just don’t ask me when I’m taking down my Christmas decorations…that is a whole other story.

Regardless of the size, a place to call “your own” is definitely a good thing! It also sets a great example to your little ones that mommie has a work place other than the kitchen counter. Lol
Love the gratitude journal!!! Thanks for more great ideas!!

I love your space! I don’t really have my own space right now but someday I will and I can’t wait! Glad you found a planner system that works for you.
