Flora & Ulysses Movie Review

“Every super hero comes to us with a purpose, you don’t always see it at first, because we don’t always know where to look.” -Flora

We had never heard of the Newbery Award-winning book, “Flora & Ulysses” until Disney decided to make a movie of it’s tale, but what a sweet story it is to discover. We had the chance to watch a preview screening and we found it to be a fun film for the entire family. So without delay, here is our Flora & Ulysses Movie Review…

Flora & Ulysses Movie Review

Brief Synopsis: It is a heart warming adventure about 10-year old named girl named Flora. She is a huge comic book fan and self-titled cynic, whose parents have recently separated. When she least expects it, she finds herself rescuing a squirrel, who ends up possessing super hero powers. The road to keep Ulysses, the super hero squirrel, safe is paved with many complications. But at the end Flora realizes that he has given her a different outlook on life and all its trails.

Flora & Ulysses Movie Review

What ages do I suggest to see the movie? We felt that the movie was safe for our entire family, BUT it may be a little too slow for super young kiddos (under the age of 5). As always, you know your child best, these are just my opinions based on my family.

Rating: PG

Length: 95 minutes

Other: I think the kids stole the show. Flora and her “temporarily blind friend” next door were definitely some of the best kid acting I have seen in a long time! I have a feeling we are going to see more of both of these child actors in the future!;)
