Top 5 Things to do on Castaway Cay

I love to share all about our top 5 things to do when we visit places, in fact I have a list for each park at Disney World, but I thought it would be fun to do our top 5 for Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. You can only get there on the Disney Cruise Line, which I have tons of advice for you if you are looking to book your next cruise (click HERE for all my posts on the Disney Cruise). We have been to Castaway Cay three times now, yet there are still things we haven’t done yet, which just means we will have to go back!;) Here is our list of the top 5 things to do on Castaway Cay…

1. RELAX on the beach, in a hammock or float away in the water!! Make sure you bring your appetite and grab the amazing island BBQ lunch (provided by the cruise). I always make sure to grab two of the giant chocolate cookies and smother some soft serve in between for the best cookie ice cream sandwich on the planet!;)

2. Meet a few characters – there are some super fun characters all dressed for the beach that you don’t want to miss. There are some as soon as you walk off the boat and others, like Olaf, that tend to be roaming around a bit. You can always ask a cast member for directions to catch a certain friend.

3. Play in the water! Go on the water slides, try out the splash pad or ropes course or even go snorkeling.

4. Run the 5K – I know you are probably thinking, “didn’t she just tell me to relax?” You are correct, that was number 1, but before you go relax, I highly suggest running the 5K first. Even if you are not a runner, it’s a great way to walk around some of the island and earn a free medal from RunDisney. You don’t have to pay anything to participate, but you do need to sign up prior to the morning of the race.

5. Go to Serenity Bay– If you are traveling with young kids there is a kids club on the island (ages 3-12) so adults can go to the adult only beach. It is definitely worth going to Serenity Bay to enjoy the crystal clear waters and for some peace and quiet.
