Simple Summer Activity Ideas for Kids
“Friends, Sun, Sand and Sea. That sounds like a Summer to Me.”
Today is officially our first day of summer, YAHOO!!!! But because we don’t have any major plans this summer I wanted to make sure my kids weren’t going to start each day off with “what are we doing today?” Or worse yet “I’m BORED,” one of the most dreaded phrases a mom can hear, am I right?!?
So, I stayed up late and created these “Simple Summer Activity Ideas for Kids” for our family and figured I would share them with all of you as well. If you like, feel free to download and print them for yourself. All I ask is that you might SHARE this article with a friend or PIN these images to your Pinterest. And if you are looking for MORE cheap, summer activities for kids, make sure to check out THIS POST from my friend Justine!!
Simple Summer Activity Ideas and Printables for Kids and Parents to use! #summer #kidfun Click To TweetFirst off, is our Summer Care Schedule. I wanted to make sure our kids had a list of activities that they HAD to accomplish each day. Then, once they accomplish those goals they can have screen time. They need to honor God, Family, Home and themselves and there is an additional list to refer to when they need ideas for their mind and body.

If that is a little too confusing, I also have this printable that may be more simple for smaller ones. You can fill in your own ideas or you can print the ideas I had for our kids. CLICK HERE TO PRINT —> Mind-3
Kids Summer Activity List
Next, I created this fun weekly schedule to give us an idea of what we could do Monday-Friday. It is pretty loose, I didn’t want anything too concrete, but I do like having some direction.

Beating the “I’m Bored” Syndrome
I also decided to add an “I’m Bored” jar to our home this summer. If the kids say this phrase they get to go to the jar and pull out an activity. The catch is that the activity is a chore, not something fun. My hope is that they will learn very quickly and will think twice before saying “I’m Bored.” Feel free to print out our list or the empty one, then cut up the chores and put them in a jar.

I hope your summer is full of simple family fun and not so busy that you don’t get to enjoy the little moments. Try to remember that our kids don’t need a whole lot of things or extravagant trips to allow them to have a memorable summer. We asked our kids after a recent trip what they enjoyed the most and they replied “just hanging out at the hotel with our cousins.” It wasn’t all of the “extra” things we had planned, it was time spent together. Hope you enjoy our Simple Summer Activity Ideas for Kids!
