XCaret Adventure Parks Review
Ready for adventure?!? Then you will want to keep reading this Xcaret Adventure Parks review. Nestled along the stunning Caribbean coastline in Mexico, the Xcaret Adventure Parks in Playa del Carmen offer an exhilarating blend of adventure, natural beauty, and cultural experiences. With a range of activities catering to all ages and interests, these parks provide the perfect opportunity for families and couples to create unforgettable memories.
While we were in Playa del Carmen, we were able to visit two of the parks; Xplor Park and Xenotes. I will share a bit more about those two parks, but I will also list the other options and what they have to offer as well. All of these parks are INCLUDED with your stay at any of the Xcaret Hotels (or you can pay for them individually if you staying elsewhere). We stayed at the Xcaret Arte hotel, which you can read about HERE. Now on to our XCaret Adventure Parks Review…
1. Xplor Park
Xplor Park is a haven for adrenaline junkies, offering a plethora of heart-pounding activities set amidst the lush Mayan jungle. From soaring through the treetops on ziplines to navigating through underground rivers in a raft, Xplor Park was a hit for both my husband and myself. No need for advanced reservations for this park, just hop on a bus from the hotel lobby.
Personal Experience:
Upon entering Xplor Park, I was super excited to get started. The zipline circuit took us on a beautiful journey above the treetops, providing panoramic views of the landscape. Another highlight was the ATV experience. We drove on a path for about 30 minutes all around the park, through tunnels and across bridges, I felt like I was Indiana Jones. There was also an underground river exploration, where you can float your way through stunning caverns and marvel at the rock formations.
Prices:
The park is INCLUDED for hotel guests of any Xcaret hotel. If not, the prices for Xplor Park range from $119 to $179 per adult, depending on the package chosen. Children between the ages of 5 and 11 receive a discounted rate. It’s always recommended to check the official Xplor Park website for the most up-to-date pricing information.
Best Time to Visit:
The Xplor Park is open year-round. However, to make the most of your visit, it is best to avoid peak seasons such as holidays and weekends when the park tends to be more crowded. We were there in early June and thought the weather was great and lines didn’t seem long.
Age, Height, and Weight Requirements:
For safety reasons, certain activities at Xplor Park have age, height, or weight restrictions. Ziplining requires participants to be at least 5 years old and have a minimum weight of 88 pounds and a maximum weight of 300 pounds. Other activities, such as swimming in underground rivers, are suitable for all ages.
2. Xenotes: Mystical Cenotes and Natural Wonders
Xenotes is an immersive journey into the mystical cenotes (natural sinkholes or underwater caves) of the Yucatan Peninsula. This adventure offers a unique opportunity to explore five different types of cenotes, each with its distinct characteristics. You do need to make a reservation in advance for this adventure, I suggest doing it before you arrive.
Personal Experience:
Exploring Xenotes was like stepping into a hidden world. From snorkeling in crystal-clear waters to rappelling into the cenotes and enjoying refreshing swims, each cenote had its own charm. The guides were very knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about the cenotes’ formation and the rich cultural significance. I loved that we were completely in nature, yet I felt super safe and bonus: I wasn’t getting eaten alive by bugs. If I had to pick a favorite, this one would be it!
Prices:
Included if you are a Xcaret hotel guest, or prices for Xenotes range from $119 to $159 per adult, depending on the package selected. Reduced rates are available for children aged 6 to 11.
Best Time to Visit:
Xenotes is a year-round attraction, with each season offering a unique experience. The months of December to April are generally considered the best time to visit, as the weather is more temperate and rainfall is minimal.
Age, Height, and Weight Requirements:
Xenotes welcomes visitors of various ages and fitness levels. However, some activities, such as rappelling and swimming, may have age and height restrictions for safety reasons. It is recommended to consult the park’s official guidelines or contact their customer service for specific requirements.
3. Xcaret Mexico Park:
- Activities: Cultural shows, archaeological sites, swimming in underground rivers, snorkeling, animal encounters, butterfly pavilion, and more.
- Cost: Included for Xcaret hotel guests or prices vary depending on the package and add-ons chosen. Last checked, general admission prices start at $99.99 per adult. Check the official Xcaret Park website for the latest rates.
- Age, Height, and Weight Limitations: Xcaret Park offers activities suitable for all ages, but certain attractions may have restrictions. Refer to the park’s guidelines for more information.
- Personal Experience: We did go one evening to this park to see the nighttime spectacular. It is a traditional show based on the history of Mexico and its people. There were some elements that were very impressive, but I actually preferred the water/dance show at the hotel even more (if you have to choose just one).
XCaret Adventure Parks Review continues, these next two we did not attend personally, but hope to one day…
4. Xel-Há Park:
- Activities: Snorkeling, swimming in cenotes, floating river, cliff jumping, zip-bike riding, nature walks, and more.
- Cost: Included for Xcaret hotel guests or prices vary based on the package and add-ons selected. General admission prices start at $89.99 per adult. Visit the official Xel-Há Park website for current rates.

5. Xenses Park:
- Activities: Sensory experiences, optical illusions, water circuits, zip lines, mud river, and more.
- Cost: Included for Xcaret hotel guests or prices vary depending on the package chosen. General admission prices start at $59.99 per adult. Confirm the latest rates on the official Xenses Park website.
- Age, Height, and Weight Limitations: Xenses Park is suitable for all ages. However, some activities may have height or weight restrictions. Check the park’s guidelines for detailed information.
Additional Tips for the Xcaret adventure parks:
- I suggest to book tickets and packages in advance to secure your preferred date and time slot. We did not know this and almost didn’t get a spot for the Xenotes tour.
- Parks offer dining options, so you can enjoy a delicious meal amidst the natural surroundings. Food is included for hotel guests.
- Lockers, towels, and life jackets are typically provided at the parks, eliminating the need to bring your own.
- Don’t forget to bring sunscreen, comfortable clothing, and water shoes to make the most of your experience.
- You can add a photography package to your park days, which is where most of these photos are from. I highly recommend buying them together at the same time so you get a better price.
- There is also a Catamaran Tour Activity that leaves from the hotel and is included for free for guests during the day. If you choose the evening/sunset tour it does cost extra. Book this in advance as we missed this opportunity.
