Party Fun

A New York Broadway Themed Bash

It’s hard to believe our little girl just turned 10! To celebrate this milestone, she chose to have a New York Broadway-themed bash that was pretty fabulous. She has a deep love of dancing and singing, so after a trip to NY two years ago to see her first Broadway show, she has been obsessed.

NY THEMED DECORATIONS

The Front Door

We found a few cute signs to put up on the front door to let our guests know they were in the right place. You can shop them HERE.

A Red Carpet Entrance

From the moment her friends arrived, they were transported to NYC, complete with glitzy decorations and fun activities that would make any Broadway star proud! At our doorway was a red carpet that led to a colorful balloon arch. The entrance felt like a Broadway premiere, especially with the stage door we set up to really set the scene. My hubby added a door frame to it, giving it a little more dimension. It was a hit, and the kids loved posing for photos as they stepped into the celebration. Shop all party supplies HERE.

A Skyline of Fun

Inside, we transformed our living space into a little piece of New York. The mantel featured a NY skyline backdrop, which we glued onto thick foam board to make more sturdy. Then we added balloons that proudly spelled out “I ❤️ NY.” My hubby even ordered a flood light to add sunset colors to the backdrop. We put the food table right in front of the mantel with a banner I found on Amazon.

Playbill Garland

We strung up Playbills on rope, which added a fun theatrical touch. Every Playbill is a show I have actually seen and have collected over the years. Some even have signatures from the actors in the show (some personal friends too), so it was pretty cool to pull them out of storage for this party.

Table Set-Up

We kept the dining area simple yet fun. I found the cutest taxi cab plates paired with classic checkered napkins that immediately evoked the feel of New York. In the center, I placed a topiary that showcased iconic NY symbols, tying everything together. The girls had a blast sitting at their special table, excited for the delicious treats ahead. BROADWAY ACTIVITIES

Broadway Karaoke

What’s a Broadway party without some singing? We bought an actual karaoke machine from Costco, and the girls took turns belting out their favorite show tunes. It was heartwarming to see their confidence grow as the party went on!

Jewelry Making

We set up a craft station where they made bead bracelets spelling out “I ❤️ NY,” which turned out to be cute keepsakes. The string I purchased was pretty difficult to work with, I suggest finding something not so stretchy and maybe bigger beads too. The case for the beads we actually picked up in NY at the M&M store and it was absolutely perfect for our project.

NY Bingo

For another activity we played a round of New York-themed Bingo. I found the Bingo cards on Amazon. The cute pouches I found at Hobby Lobby and glued on the NY patches as prizes. The girls loved the pouches and I wish I could have given them all as party favors, but it would have been too expensive. Each pouch was almost $5 and each patch was almost $2, you multiply that by 10 girls and it was not in our party budget. But it did make for a very cute Bingo prize.

DELICIOUS NYC EATS

Pizza, Pretzels and the Big Apple

No New York-themed party would be complete without food that pays homage to the city. We served up slices of classic NY-style pizza (you know, straight from Costco). The warm, soft pretzels were a hit, especially when displayed on a mug stand for that extra touch. I found the pretzels at Pavillions. To add to the theme, we showcased a large apple we affectionately dubbed “THE BIG APPLE,” alongside smaller apples for the kids to munch on.

Desserts

Black and white cookies were both a treat and a favor, wrapped up for the kids to take home. And how could we forget the “Brooklyn Brookies”—a delicious hybrid of brownies and cookies that everyone raved about? I also picked up large M&M cookies to remind us of the huge M&M store in Times Square.

Lastly, we had cupcakes decorated with “I ❤️ NY” written in icing, and a simple cake adorned with NY-themed cake toppers that made for a picture-perfect centerpiece. All desserts I got at our local grocery store Ralphs, I just spruced them up a bit.

A PARTY TO REMEMBER

As the sun set and the girls danced, sang, and celebrated, it became clear that this was a pretty cool experience that captured the essence of New York and Broadway. Our daughter’s 10th birthday will be one for the books.

Here’s to many more birthdays filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable themes! 🎉 You can find more party ideas HERE.
