Party Fun

Harry Potter Birthday Party

We officially finished the entire Harry Potter series and the kids decided they wanted to have a combined H.P. birthday party. I love it when the kids want to combine their parties, we have only done it two times prior to this, but it definitely makes my life easier for the month of September.

I have been trying to tame down my party expectations and not go overboard, so you will notice I didn’t plan any activities or games for the kids because all they really wanted to do was play. And now that we have our pool it seemed like a no brainer to just let the kids swim and have fun.

Location

We decided to have a Harry Potter Pool Party since we just finished our pool. So the location was our completely renovated backyard.

Harry Potter Party Decorations

I didn’t go super crazy on decorations, but knew I had to do a few iconic items. I already had a balloon ring, so we placed a a brick backdrop behind it that I found on Amazon and then used Gryffindor colored balloons to cover the top half. I also had a bird cage and found a cute stuffed owl to set on top of our Harry Potter books. I used a few scarfs from costumes and some letter boards to finish the job. Most of the other decorations were centered around the food, which I will cover in the next sections.

Harry Potter Themed Party Sweets

I started with the sweets, the kids wanted donuts instead of cupcakes this year, and I also did a candy charcuterie board with specific items themed from Harry Potter. I found the Bertie Bots every flavor beans on Amazon as well as the wings for the chocolates to make them look like flying snitches (buy them HERE). The cake toppers are from a small shop called Harlyn+Co.

Harry Potter Themed Party Food

I love theming food for parties. We tried to represent each house of Hogwarts with Huffle Puffs, Gryffindor Grapes, Raven Claws, Professor Sprouts Veggie Garden, the Slytherin Snakes were part of the charcuterie board. Then we also had red vines and pretzel sticks as wand options. Not pictured; the pizza, because that didn’t look as cute!;)

Harry Potter Party Favors

I ordered glasses and wands that were actually pencils, so the kids could use them (shop them HERE). I am big on giving items that parents don’t want to immediately throw away. Kids could also got to bring lots of sweet treats home like the Bertie Bots Every Flavor Beans.

Attire for a Harry Potter Birthday

Of course I had to find the perfect shirts for everyone to wear for the party. I found the kids shirts that say “I solemnly swear that it’s my birthday,” shop that HERE. Then I found them Harry Potter bathing suits too. I also picked up some Hogwarts shirts for my hubby and myself. Shop Rosie’s suit HERE, shop Colton’s suit HERE or HERE, shop the hubby’s shirt HERE, shop my shirt HERE.
