Frozen II DVD Release
“Take a step, step again and do the next right thing.” -Frozen II
I had the honor of being invited to the DVD release of Frozen II at the Disney Studios and had the most incredible day. I was able to sit down with the creative minds behind the movie and some of the voices as well. One of the highlights of the day, and a pinch me moment, was when we were treated to a performance by the music composers who sang a collaboration of all the Frozen II songs.
@DisneyFrozen is officially out on digital! Find out when it comes to Blu-ray! #frozen #Frozen2 Click To TweetOur day began by interviewing Chris Buck (director), Peter Del Vecho (Producer) and Jennifer Lee (Director/Writer/Chief Creative Officer). We all sat at a table and were able to ask any questions we had regarding the movie or creative process. I asked them how it was possible to start working on a sequel when the first movie had become such an anthem for little girls all over the world. “How do you top songs like ‘Let it go’ and begin a new journey?” They were so sweet and explained that Frozen I was just the first act, like in a staged musical, so Frozen II had to tell the rest of the story. I found it so interesting that they really began without dwelling on anything from the first film and just moved forward.
Next we sat down with the voices of two newer characters; Honeymaren and Ryder. They play a brother and sister in the film, voiced by Jason Ritter & Rachel Matthews. Rachel is brand new to voice over work and was over the moon when her agent landed her an audition for the movie. Jason is no stranger to voice over acting, but this was his first time ever singing at an audition and said he was so nervous. He actually had a song in the film, but after editing it ended up getting left on the cutting room floor. I loved learning about their insider scoop.
Lastly, we talked with the brains behind the amazing music for Frozen; Bobby and Kristen Lopez. Husband and wife and business partners in all that they do. Met in New York struggling to make it on Broadway as actors and creators. Then found themselves writing music together and somehow writing music for Coco, Frozen I and Frozen II. I found them to be infectious as they talked about their relationship, how they manage parenthood and successful careers.
Lastly, we were able to go into the recording studio and do some voice over singing in the same place where most of the actors recorded their voices for the movie. It was such a surreal feeling standing in the room where so many amazingly talented people have stood.
Frozen II comes out on digital February 11th and on Blu-ray February 25th. We are so happy to add this amazing movie to our Disney library. Has your family seen it yet?
