How to Vacation During a Pandemic
“When in doubt, vacation.”
We recently rented our very first Air B&B due to most hotels and resorts being closed during the pandemic. We realized this may be the only way to have a “vacation” while keeping our social distance. We had the most fun taking over an entire house, swimming in the pool, playing games and just hanging out without the normal daily routines. There may not be any daily room service, but we didn’t really need it. We brought our own food and pretty much let the kids swim all day long. I highly recommend looking at an Air B&B this summer to still have the feeling that you got to get away. If you are wondering about the house we rented and what I look for in a place to stay, here are those details.
Things to look for in an Air B&B…
How many rooms, beds, bathrooms and common areas does it have? If grownups want some private time it’s nice to have two living rooms and at least one master bedroom/suite. If you plan on sharing the house with another family then two master suites are ideal. This house had two masters, two living rooms, as well as a separate bedroom and bath outside near the pool. The kids were especially excited about the bunk beds!;)

Are there any additional games/activities? This house had a super nice patio area with swings, perfect for an evening chill. They also had a tennis court to burn off any extra energy. Inside they had a Nintendo system set up in the kids room. Other things that would have been a bonus for our kids would be a foosball, ping pong, and/or pool table.
What is in close proximity? Is it close to restaurants that offer take out? Delivery? Grocery store? Are there any fun walking trails? Or any pretty views? This house had a great view of the desert mountains and was close to a little walking trail. It was also only a few minutes from most retail shops/restaurants.
For me, it’s a bonus if there are great places to take photos, like fun walls, decor, etc… The last photo was actually taken in front of the outdoor shower they had by the pool. There were lots of gorgeous places to take photos!
Overall, we had a great time and would love to go back! We think this will definitely be the best way to travel for our family to stay safe right now. What do you think?
