Is Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland Worth the Cash?

Is Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland worth the cash? Let’s talk about it!;) If you are a big Disney fan, then chances are you have either heard of, or attended, the Mickey’s Halloween Party. We have never gone to the party for a few reasons…

  1. The cost
  2. How late it starts
  3. The age of our children
  4. The cost. (Oh, wait, did I mention that already)?!? LOL!

Instead of Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland they changed it to the Oogie Boogie Bash at California Adventure. It is the same premise, but for those of you that are not aware what the party is like, I did finally go with a girlfriend to check it out. Here are the details…

What is Oogie Boogie Bash?

For a separate ticket price, at 3:00pm you may enter Disney’s California Adventure Park in full costume (which, for adults, is usually not permitted). My friend Lindsay and I decided to be Anna and Elsa and do a little research for “work” purposes, of course. If you don’t have a ticket to the Halloween party you have to leave California Adventure by 6pm, which is when the event actually begins, but you can head to Disneyland on the days of the Halloween party.

  • The Frightfully Fun Parade (8pm). The parade was awesome!! So much fun with all the villains and ghost dancers.
  • Mickey’s Trick and Treat Party (in the Disney Jr. Dance Party building – 6:25pm, 7:10pm, 7:55pm, 9:25pm, 10:15pm). I loved Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show. Such a cute show for little ones, I highly suggest seeing this if you are going.

  • Villainous! World of Color Show (9pm & 10:45pm). This was not my favorite, I’ve seen it at other times and loved it more, it was not a highlight for me.

So…I know what you are thinking…she still hasn’t answered the question in the title; Is Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland worth the cash? Here are my thoughts on that…if you are going with a friend or group of friends then the single $129-$179 (depending on date) seems to be worth it. That is what I did and I had a great time! But if you have to pay for a family of 4, or more, I personally might save my money and buy a regular ticket to the parks, or even an annual pass.

A regular single day ticket to Disneyland costs $149, or $164 on a weekend, add $60 for a park hopper. But you can usually go from at least 9am-11pm. The lowest annual pass (or Magic Key) is $400 and it would cost you AT LEAST $516 (upwards of $716) to take a family of 4 to the Oogie Boogie Bash for ONE night. I think especially if you have super young kids that don’t stay out late and would be asleep by 8:30/9:00pm, I personally would not be spending that kind of money for a few hours. BUT, if your kids are older and love Halloween, then it is definitely a very fun night!;) So I guess I leave it up to you. What do you think? I tried to give you enough info for you to make a decision, was it helpful? Let me know below!

Wow!! And to think in 1989 my husband and I thought it was expensive!! Adult admission for a one day pass was raised from 20.50 to 25.50!! Children’s admission was raised from 18.50 to 20.50. And parking was raised from 3.00 to 4.00! Honestly, it doesn’t even seem that long ago!! Lol
And when my parents took me…..well, let’s not even go there!!
Honestly, it’s still worth the one day entry!!!

WOW! Prices have definitely changed over the years, but we still think it’s worth the cost to make the magical memories!

Loved the peek inside the bash🙌🏻 Nice costumes😉

Love the info on the bash! I agree with what you said- I may wait until my kids are older, but it would make such a fun girls night!! I love your costumes too!

I definitely appreciate your honesty and agree with your assessment! I definitely don’t think our family of 7 could afford that and it would make more sense to get a whole day ticket. However, it would be a fun date night with the hubby!
