“Ralph Breaks the Internet” Movie Review

“There’s no one I’d rather be than me.” -Wreck it Ralph

We have been waiting for years for Disney to do a sequel to Wreck it Ralph, so when they announced it was going to happen, we were ecstatic. What was even more exciting is when they invited us to see a sneak peak of the movie before it was released to the public. Here is a review of the movie, without giving too much away (and if you missed my blog about my experience at the “Ralph Breaks the Interest” press junket, you can read all about that here).

Brief Synopsis“Ralph Breaks the Internet” is a continuation of the story from Wreck it Ralph. The two main characters Vanellope Von Schweets (voiced by Sarah Silverman) and Wreck it Ralph (voiced by John C. Riley) become best friends at the end of Wreck it Ralph and we think the story is over, but really it is just beginning.

Vanellope realizes she wants more out of their arcade life and begins to dream of new adventures. Ralph is content where he’s at in life, but doesn’t want to loose the only best friend he has ever had, so he sets off with Vanellope to explore the internet.

On this ride to the internet both main characters realize their paths may be going in different directions, but the road to that decision has it’s painful bumps along the way.

The movie deals with the insecurities that we all face and what happens when they are magnified with the power of the internet. It’s funny, it’s sad, it’s clever, it’s thought provoking.

What Ages Do I Suggest to See it? This movie is for ALL ages. Obviously some of the themes of the film might go over the heads of young children, but they will be entertained the entire time. I would say ages 3 and older would be fine to see this movie.

Other – For me, I think the sequel is just as good as the original, which could have been very hard to do when you have an original that is superb. One of my favorite scenes is, of course, the princess scene(s). I absolutely LOVE that they incorporated all of the Disney princesses into the movie. Vanellope even gets her own princess song, which who knew Sarah Silverman could even sing, but she did amazing! I especially loved that one of the scenes all of the princesses actually work together to save the guy instead of the guy saving the princess.
