Raya and the Last Dragon Movie Review
“If you want to get someone’s trust, you have to give a little trust first.” -Raya and the Last Dragon
We finally had the opportunity to see Raya and the Last Dragon and it was worth the wait! Such a surprisingly beautiful film that I could watch over and over again. Below I am sharing a bit about the movie as well as a few of my personal thoughts. As always, these are just my opinions, but I really do think this will be one of your new family favorites! We give it two thumbs up, or five stars, a MUST-SEE!!
Full review of @DisneyRaya plus activity sheets and a giveaway for a free download of the movie! #DisneyRaya Click To TweetBrief Synopsis: Once upon a time humans and dragons lived together in peace and harmony. Then evil threatened the land and the dragons sacrificed themselves to save the humans. Once the magic of the dragons were gone, the people were overcome with anger and hate. Now 500 years later it takes a warrior princess named Raya to show the same sacrificial love and hope to bring the people back together.
Release Date: Came out March 5th with premiere access on Disney+, releasing to DVD & Blu-ray available May 18th, available to all Disney+ members June 4th, 2021. The DVD/Blu-ray will have lots of deleted scenes, interviews with the cast & crew, martial arts lessons and fun facts.
Rating: PG
Length: 107 minutes
Other: We LOVED this movie!! I was in tears throughout the film because of how it pulls at your heartstrings. It is such a beautiful story of how trust and hope can be found in the most unlikely of places.
In the movie, the country is divided over hate and people only look after their own. They allow themselves to have misconceptions and prejudices based on generations of folklore. But when Raya uncovers that at the heart we are more similar than different, it breaks down the barriers of what each group had been taught. I couldn’t think of a more timely message for our current world!
I always try to warn parents if I think there are any super scary parts for young kids. The “evil” character in this movie is less of a character and more of a rolling cloud that turns people to stone. I could see how this would be pretty scary for little ones. Mine were fine, but they are ages 6 and 8 and have watched quite a few movies with more intense scenes.
