Xcaret Arte Hotel Review

The hubby and I haven’t flown anywhere without the kids since they were born almost 11 years ago. We have done three overnight trips since having them, all of which were 1-2 nights close to home. Since our 15 year wedding anniversary is coming up in September, we thought it was time for a big adventure just the two of us.

We had our eyes on a certain resort for a few years and after looking into it we realized it wasn’t as expensive as we thought, so here is our Xcaret Arte Hotel review…

Xcaret Arte Hotel Review

Location of Xcaret Arte

Playa del Carmen, located on the stunning shores of the Riviera Maya in Mexico, has become a haven for travelers seeking a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and vibrant culture. Nestled within this tropical paradise is Hotel Arte, a part of the renowned Xcaret hotel group, which is an all inclusive hotel. Xcaret is located about an hour and 20 minutes south of the Cancun airport.

Hotel Arte is an adult only resort that offers an extraordinary experience which combines luxurious accommodations, exceptional amenities, and easy access to thrilling activities. Hotel Arte is just one third of the hotel group; Hotel Mexico is the family side and La Casa de la Playa, which is also adult only, only 63 suites and is a bit more expensive than the Arte side.

We booked 4 nights, but in hindsight, coming from California, I wish we had either done a red eye flight so that when we got there we would still have a full day, or booked an additional night. It is about a 5 hour flight from California, then there is a 2 hour time difference (plus over an hour drive to the resort from the airport), which means it takes a full day of travel to get there.

Transportation and Accessibility:

Hotel Arte takes care of your transportation needs, ensuring a seamless journey from the moment you arrive. The resort offers convenient shuttle services to and from the airport, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenic ride. You may have to wait slightly at the airport once you arrive, but there are employee’s that will direct you where to go.

Additionally, Hotel Arte provides easy access to other parks operated by Xcaret, such as Xcaret Mexico Park, Xel-Há, and Xplor, where you can delve into thrilling adventures, explore underground rivers, and encounter incredible wildlife.

Hotel Arte Luxurious Rooms and Suites:

Hotel Arte boasts a collection of beautifully designed rooms and suites that provide guests with a comfortable and stylish retreat. Each accommodation is tastefully decorated, incorporating local artwork and traditional Mexican elements. The rooms are spacious, featuring amenities such as flat-screen TVs, minibars, and private balconies or terraces overlooking the lush gardens or sparkling Caribbean Sea. We chose an ocean view with a swim up option, a little extra, but definitely worth it! Plus, our building was the only one with access to the rooftop pool that overlooked the ocean and one restaurant called Kibi Kibi that we loved for breakfast.

Spectacular Pools at Hotel Arte:

We LOVED indulging in pure relaxation at Hotel Arte’s exquisite pools. The resort features a stunning infinity pool that seems to blend seamlessly with the Caribbean horizon, inviting guests to take a refreshing dip while soaking up the breathtaking views. For those seeking a more secluded experience, private plunge pools are available in select room categories, allowing you to swim at your leisure. There are also rooftop pools with amazing views (some with the ocean view) that you won’t want to miss.

Thrilling Activities at hotel arte:

Hotel Arte offers an array of activities to cater to every traveler’s interests. We got to immerse ourselves in the rich cultural heritage of Mexico through engaging workshops, art exhibitions, and live performances. Snorkeling, paddle boarding & canoeing are all options at the hotel itself, or you can take a bus to the other Xcaret parks to do more adventures like zip lining or ATV driving. You can also unleash your adventurous spirit by exploring the nearby natural wonders, such as cenotes, which are natural sinkholes or underwater caves. More on the adventures in a separate blog post soon…

Dining Experiences at Xcaret Arte:

Our Xcaret Arte Hotel review continues with the dining experiences. Indulge your taste buds at Hotel Arte’s exquisite restaurants, where culinary artistry meets authentic Mexican flavors. From gourmet Mexican cuisine to international fare, each dining venue offers a unique ambiance and carefully crafted menus using the freshest local ingredients. There are so many different options for food, you never have to eat at the same place twice. We loved trying new places and new foods each time we got hungry. From a Michelin Star chef to buffet’s to swim up bars, there is something for everyone. They were also super accommodating when it came to my gluten allergy, I was very pleased with my options.

Cost of Staying at Hotel Arte

I usually don’t share the exact cost of our vacations, but this time I thought it was important to be completely upfront so you can plan accordingly. For the entire trip; non-stop roundtrip flights from San Francisco to Cancun, transportation, hotel room with ocean view and swim up option for four nights (which also includes food, drinks, excursions, entertainment, etc) for two people we spent $5,965.18 ($2,982 per person). We could have saved a little money if we had chosen a room without a swim up option or an ocean view, but I don’t regret our decision at all. You could probably find a better deal if you went in a more “off season” time. We thought it was 100% worth the cost and would recommend it to other friends.

Hotel Arte in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, is an extraordinary vacation experience. From luxurious accommodations to exciting activities, we were completely immersed in this destination. Whether you want to relax by the poolside, adventure in the natural wonders, or have a culinary journey through Mexican cuisine, Hotel Arte caters to everyone. With its prime location and access to other Xcaret parks, this exceptional resort is the perfect choice for a memorable getaway in the heart of the Riviera Maya. We definitely would go back again!!

We are looking to book 6 nights 25 Dec to 31 Jan 2024. 5 adults (2 adults + 3 kids 25, 23, 21). Found a deal with Costco…including flights from Toronto, 6 nights, price is appx US$17,400 or US$3500 per person. Plus we get about US$1,100 in Costco Cashcard.

Not sure why you wouldn’t share the price of your trip – you did…but you said ‘normally I don’t share’. That is an important part of a holiday.
