“The noblest art is that of making others happy.” -P.T.Barnum

Who’s excited for all the Disney magic that is coming to the big screen this year? This girl right here!!;) When I attended the Disney Social Media Celebration this past month I had the priveledge to see a glimpse of everything that is about to hit the movie theater’s. I even got to see a few sneak peak trailers that aren’t even out to the public yet.

(I attended the Disney Social Media Mom Celebration at a discounted price, but as always all opinions are my own!)

So here are the movies coming out this year that you may want to put on your calendar. Some of the movies I can give you a personal description, others I have yet to see and will give you a brief synopsis provided by the Disney studios.

A WRINKLE IN TIME (Making it’s debut on March 9th)

Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” an epic adventure which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.

I had the opportunity to see a preview showing of this movie and it is visually stunning from beginning to end. I loved the setting, make-up and costumes, special effects and premise of the story. I thought the young actors in the movie did a fantastic job stepping up to the plate while performing along side stars like Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey.

I will say that I think this movie is a bit more mature than I was expecting. Our children, currently ages 3 and 5 are much too young to see it. There are many references to “IT” which is a dark, evil character that even possesses the youngest child at one point of the movie and is really quite scary. I am sure it all depends on the child, but generally speaking I think age 10 and up would be best for this film.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR (MAY 4th, 2018)

A journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

 INCREDIBLES 2 (JUNE 15th, 2018)

Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2” – but this time Helen is in the spotlight, leaving Bob at home with Violet and Dash to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP (JULY 6th, 2018)

From the Marvel Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: “Ant-Man and The Wasp.”  In the aftermath of “Captain America:  Civil War,” Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father.  As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

DISNEY’S CHRISTOPHER ROBIN (August 3, 2018)

In the heartwarming live action adventure “Disney’s Christopher Robin,” the young boy who loved embarking on adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with a band of spirited and loveable stuffed animals, has grown up and lost his way. Now it’s up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin remember the loving and playful boy who is still inside.

I had a chance to see a preview clip of this movie and it looks so heart warming. I grew up watching Winnie the Pooh, so this story is very special to me. And the fact that they can turn it into a live action film is pretty incredible.

THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS (November 2nd, 2018)

All Clara wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip, a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger, to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world. Starring Keira Knightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Morgan Freeman and Drosselmeyer.

I am so excited for this movie, especially since I used to be a dancer and what little girl doesn’t dream of being part of the Nutcracker?;)

RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET: WRECK-IT RALPH 2 (November 21st, 2018)

“Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2” leaves the video arcade behind, venturing into the uncharted, expansive and thrilling world of the internet—which may or may not survive Ralph’s wrecking. Video game bad guy Ralph and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz must risk it all by traveling to the world wide web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, Sugar Rush. In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet—the netizens—to help navigate their way, including a webite entrepreneur named Yesss, who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making site “BuzzzTube.”

And in case you didn’t know, we dressed up as Wreck it Ralph for Halloween last year, so we are pretty big fans!! Counting down the days till this movie comes out!

MARY POPPINS RETURNS (December 25th, 2018)

In Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns,” an all new sequel with a fresh sensibility that celebrates the spirit of the original, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.

The film also stars Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Colin Firth and Meryl Streep. Angela Lansbury and Dick Van Dyke both appear in the film as well.

I grew up loving Mary Poppins, dancing to lots of these songs and now our kids adore the film and music as well. It’s pretty hard to say which film I’m most excited about…but this one is definitely in the top 2!;)
