Alt Summit Conference + Palm Springs
“Sometimes inspiration comes from a single ray of sunshine.”
I never set out to be a blogger, in fact I didn’t know what a blog was until a friend told me I should start one and I had to google it. This journey began with me thinking I would share about party planning and kid crafts and has evolved to me sharing tales of motherhood, faith, travel, our love for Disney and so much more.
One thing I have learned is that because this job is mostly done all behind a computer screen it is so important to make real life connections with other people in the business. You have to have some face to face interactions with fellow bloggers and/or the companies you wish to work with. Which is why it is very important to attend a blogging conference.
I have been to three conferences in the almost 4 years that I have been blogging. Each have served a purpose for me on my journey and I am thankful for the people that I have met and classes I have taken during these events.
Ever wonder about @altsummit conference in @palmspringsca ?!? I've got a review you don't want to miss. #altsummit #bloggingconference Click To TweetMost recently I was hosted by ALT Summit Conference in Palm Springs to come and join their massive 10th year celebration. I knew I had to go to the conference because my favorite Joanna Gaines was going to be a key note speaker. It is a weeklong conference full of guest speakers, interactive classes from people in the business and chances to meet with companies and fellow bloggers. There are a few sponsored dinners throughout the week as well, these are by invite only and another chance to interact with the company hosting the dinner.
I wasn’t able to stay the full week since I had motherhood duties back at home, but I was able to get away for two nights to hear Joanna Gaines (which was definitely the highlight for me), take a few classes and pass out my business card to a few companies I’ve been wanting to work with. I was also invited to one of the sponsored dinners, which was hosted by Children’s Miracle Network. They have a new reality TV show called “Real Moms” coming out on Mother’s Day. It features mothers that have children with special needs. We got to see a sneak peak of the show and meet some of the moms who are sharing their stories, it was so incredibly moving. I highly suggest watching it when it comes out on the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
Overall, ALT Summit was a great experience and I would love to go again! I will say that this was their first year hosting the conference at multiple locations, which were not walking distance from each other. They did have a shuttle, but I hope that next year they can condense the amount of locations, or pick hotels that are much closer in proximity to each other. Another small improvement that I would hope to see is that the attendees would have more opportunities to be pampered. Whether it be snacks between classes, more sponsored meals, a company providing hair care or makeup touchups, etc… I think this would set the conference up for even bigger success.
One of the other things I did LOVE about ALT Summit was it’s location. Palm Springs has so many fun hotels and spots to eat or just to run around and take fun photos with your girlfriends!;) It really did feel like a mini-vacation at times with the warm days and lovely atmosphere.
Although the boutique style hotels were very cute, the price was not so cute. I had the chance to stay at the Double Tree by Hilton at a discounted “media rate” and I was pleasantly surprised at the spacious rooms and great pool area overlooking the golf course. Plus, the rooms were reasonably priced, even without my discount (which was 10%). I especially loved the patio area with fire pit that looked onto the pool.
If you are headed to the Palm Springs area I would definitely suggest the Double Tree. It was family friendly, had a nice work out room and a late check out of 1pm. The only thing missing was a continental breakfast!;)
