Avengers Campus at California Adventure
“Avengers Assemble”
We had the chance to check out the new Avengers Campus at Disneyland on June 15th, the day California “fully re-opened” after over a year of the COVID restrictions. It was a hot, but wonderful day not having to wear masks and show our smiles again! Here is some information about our experience that I hope you will find helpful. If you have any questions you can always leave them below. Here is what you can expect in Avengers Campus at California Adventure.
Everything you need to know about #AvengersCampus @Disneyland Click To TweetCharacters at Avengers Campus
I think this might have been one of my favorite part of Avengers Campus, seeing all of the super heroes in person! We tried to catch as many as possible, they do have a rotating schedule, so you have to keep an eye out for your favorite. Or simply ask a cast member if they can give you a better idea of when and where your favorite might be appearing. You can see characters like Captain America, Thor, Loki, Iron Man, Black Widow, Spider Man, Captain Marvel, The Wasp, Black Panther and Guardians of the Galaxy. Some characters are located up high, so you have to really keep your eyes pealed, others are easier to find in and around the campus.
Entertainment at Avengers Campus
If you like character sightings, then you are going to LOVE the entertainment in Avengers Campus at California Adventure. There are so many moments happening all day long, you are bound to catch at least a few. The great thing is, for most of them, you don’t have to camp out hours before to get a good viewing spot.
My favorite was the Spider Man show. It occurs near the main entrance of Avengers Campus and along the brick building. He soars though the sky, climbs walls, then afterwards you can take a picture with him.
During Avengers Assemble you will find Black Widow & Black Panther making sure there are no possible threats in the area. They have to spring into action when the Quinjet on top of Headquarters attracts some unwanted attention.
Train with the “Dora Milaje,” also known as Black Panther’s loyal bodyguards in the “Warriors of Wakanda: The Disciplines of the Dora Milaje.” These fierce women march out and teach kids (young and old) how to fight & act like a warrior. These women were fierce, I thought the casting was superb!
Throughout the day you will find Dr. Strange performing a show in a small area called the “Ancient Sanctum” in the middle of Avengers Campus. The casting for this was also fantastic, Dr. Strange looked exactly like the movie!! BUT, this was probably my least favorite show only because you can’t see well, unless you are in the front row. The area is also VERY small and on a warm day there is no shade and we were extremely HOT. If you want to see it I highly recommend going when the sun starts to go down, you will thank me later!;)
Food at Avengers Campus
If you are hoping to eat at Pym’s Test Kitchen I highly recommend trying to do the mobile food ordering. If you don’t see a time window that works for you, keep checking back every 15 minutes. The food carts do not offer mobile food ordering, but we didn’t find those lines to be too long. I will say I was quite frustrated with the fact that I couldn’t mobile order any kind of food allergy preferences at the time we were there. You had to wait in the stand by line, which was VERY long if you wanted to order anything for a person with any kind of food allergies. I hope they adjust this quickly as all other places in the park you can order these options on the Disneyland app with no problems.
- Pym Test Kitchen– The only restaurant in the land, with a super fun atmosphere you will want to try! Based on the Ant Man series of everything either getting shrunk or enlarged, your portions may be a little crazy!;) They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We tried the “Atomic Fusion Pretzel” and the kids LOVED it! Big enough to feed a family of 4, enough to save all day and to keep snacking. The hubby tried the “Pym-ini” Sandwich and gave it a thumbs up. I also ordered the “Choco-Smash” candy bar and holy cow, this thing is HUGE and AMAZING. It’s like a peanut butter snickers bar with a brownie base. I could only eat a few bites, but saved the rest for later.
IF the seating is full, there is additional tables around the corner near the Hyperion Theater.
- Pym Tasting Lab– Specialty beer, wine and cocktails. One snack option of mini-pretzels, peanuts and popped sorghum.
- Shawarma Palace Food Carts– (2 locations; one in the middle of Avengers Campus, the other near The Hyperion theater waiting area) This was actually my favorite (non-sweet) food of the day in Avengers Campus. You can get the chicken wrap or the plant based falafel and cauliflower wrap. It comes with a coconut yogurt Tahini Sauce that is super tasty. Since I try to eat gluten free I just ate the chicken and dipped it in the yogurt. I would definitely order this again. They also offer a breakfast wrap with plant based sausage and egg.
- Terran Treats Food Cart– Sweet Spiral Ration, a spiral pineapple churro and the Cosmic Cream Orb, a cream puff filled with raspberry cheesecake.
Rides in Avengers Campus
There are technically two rides inside Avengers Campus, but only one new one. Web Slingers is the newest addition, while Guardians of the Galaxy is an oldie but goodie. We love both rides and our kids could go on them over and over!
- Web Slingers– is the newest ride addition to the parks and we give it 2 thumbs up, or shall I say, 2 webs up!;) It is a super interactive ride where you have to help Spider Man dispose of all the spider bots. You use your own hands to fling webs to hit the bots and you earn points while doing it. It reminds me of Toy Story Mania, except there are no guns. At the end your score gets tallied up with the rest of your team and gets compared to other teams that were on the ride at the same time.
You can wait in the stand by line for this ride, or do single rider (must be over the age of 7). No height requirement for this ride.
- Guardians of the Galaxy– Is one of our kids favorite thrill rides. It takes you up and down so fast, you might feel like you left your stomach on the ride. LOL! Must be 40″ to ride.
Shop at Avengers Campus
There is a gift shop called “Web Suppliers” as you first enter Avengers Campus. It’s a smaller shop with mostly Spider Man items. There is also a gift shop as you exit Guardians of the Galaxy ride that is a little bigger and has even more options. You don’t have to go on the ride to go into this shop and it seems less crowded since it isn’t new.
Photo Spots at Avengers Campus
There are lots of fun photo spots located all over Avengers Campus. This fun checkered floor is right next to the Dr. Strange area and it looks like you are falling into a pit!
There is this great colorful wall in the line for Web Slingers…
Then this colorful wall is right as you enter Avengers Campus at California Adventure where Spider Man hangs out…
And of course you have to get a photo as you enter next to the Avengers Campus sign…
