“Fiesta Friday” Love Bird Style

They say “Birds of a feather flock together.” -Welsh Proverb I believe for love birds this is especially true, which is why that was the theme of a bridal shower I co-hosted. So for this “Fiesta Friday” join me on a journey as we celebrate a beautiful bride about to marry her one and only love bird.

The invitation set the party (which I believe to be true for most parties). We had to go with two love birds and soft warm colors. We ordered them from an Etsy shop called elleandbean. For privacy purposes this is the sample picture they had on Pinterestimage

We decided to emulate the banner from the invite and decided to make a similar one and hang it when you first walked in my home. We cut burlap, painted it in the color scheme and strung it on twine. Here is the stunning bride under the banner.IMG_3872

IMG_3911For other decor we collected bird cages; some were from Michael’s, others we had already, and displayed them throughout the house. We used old mason jars, poured bird seed into each one, then filled them with baby’s breath. We also used antique books and suitcases around the house for a vintage feel. Of course we had to display the beautiful engagement photos (taken by the amazing Eyelet Images) on the tables and on the entry. We decided, in lieu of a guest book, to cut out hearts for people to leave a love note for the bride and hang it on the tree you see in the picture below.IMG_3868

IMG_3908On the mantel we made a tassel banner out of ribbon and twine to use as a back drop. Next we cut the letters “LOVE BIRDS” out of thick poster board (actually my hubby helped with this one, staying up till 3am carefully cutting out the letters). Then we glued bird seed around the outside of the letters. We put more bird cages and a large antique suitcase for dimension as well as more engagement photos.IMG_1044

For favors, a wonderfully crafty bridesmaid, made heart shaped bird feeders for everyone to take home and hang in their yard. They were hand made and safe for birdies to eat. I found a stamp of love birds at Hobby Lobby along with brown tags. We used twine to tie up the bird feeders in a clear bag and wrote “The love birds are tying the knot! 5-16-14” We put them in a vintage suitcase with a simple chalk board thanking people for coming.IMG_3870

IMG_3905For game prizes another bridesmaid found these perfect mini birdcages and filled them with bath goodies that said “From Jodi’s Shower to yours.”IMG_3918

For food it was a brunch so we had a fruit parfait bar; yogurt, granola, fruit, etc..We also had small quiches, a baked french toast (that we made the night before and just had to cook that morning), donuts and the cutest peanut butter bird nests you ever did see.IMG_3902

For drinks we decided to do a mimosa bar where you could choose your favorite juice and champagne. We also had tea and lemon water. I had a few left over banners so we strung them on the drink table along with a burlap table runner.IMG_3889

IMG_3887It was a beautiful day for a beautiful bride (I can’t wait to share their wedding) and I was so honored to co-host (with her amazing sister & the help of the other crafty bridesmaids) this love bird themed shower. I believe this theme would be adorable for a baby shower as well. You could change it slightly so one bird could be the mama bird and a smaller one could be the baby bird. Hope you enjoyed this flight on “Fiesta Friday.”
