Celebrate Mother’s Day Quarantine Style

“All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my mother.” -Abraham Lincoln

Since we can’t take mom to the traditional Mother’s Day brunch with the extended family, I figured I would give some ideas for other options this year. So here is how you can celebrate Mother’s Day quarantine style. You will notice that, thanks to technology, you can still make mom feel super special. It’s a good thing we don’t live in the Stone Age!;) LOL!

This post was sponsored by Verizon, for all your wireless connection needs, but all opinions are my own.

1. Starting off my list is a way to WIN a present for that special mom in your life! This Mother’s Day Verizon is giving TWELVE lucky SHERO’s $1,000 as part of their #GivingMore campaign!!! $500 cash PLUS a $500 Verizon shopping spree! What is a SHERO? I’m so glad you asked!;) A SHERO is a female hero who exemplifies courage and strength. She is family of military, nurses, teachers or first responders. Do you know a SHERO? ARE YOU A SHERO? Fill out this form to nominate yourself or someone you know!! GO NOW, don’t wait! All entries need to be in by May 6th!!! Winners will be announced May 9th.

2. Mom’s LOVE to save money! So why not surprise her with a reduced cell phone bill? The money you save she can spend on a treat for herself! Verizon has awesome deals for first responders, teachers, nurses and military (or their spouses)! Use this link to check it out!!

3. With all the money you saved on your phone bill here are some gift card ideas for when mom can have a day out, plus it helps keep businesses afloat in this uncertain time! Bonus, most all companies you can order gift cards and print them right from home (for all you last minute procrastinators)!

  • Spa Day: message, mani/pedi, hair cut, etc…
  • Her favorite restaurant
  • Her favorite retail store: Target, Nordstrom, Disney, etc…

4. Think about booking a vacation for next year. Since we aren’t quite sure when traveling will be back to normal, why not book something for next year? It will definitely give her something to look forward to, even if it is a few months away.

5. Use her favorite photos and have them turned into an album, a mug, a calendar, a canvas print, or whatever you think she would like the most. There are so many online sites that take your treasured memories and turn them into gifts. Try looking at Shutterfly or even Costco!

6. Order take-out, delivery or curb side pick up so no one has to cook or do the dishes! Even if we can’t sit inside a restaurant we can still have someone else do the cooking. There are so many places that are still taking orders to go, check on the apps Grub Hub, Uber Eats or simply call the restaurant to see what options they have in place.

7. It sounds so simple, but let Mom choose her favorites for the day. Whether it’s sleeping in and giving her time to stream her favorite podcast or making sure she gets some fresh air while listening to her favorite music. FaceTiming with family and friends might be important to her, or even picking her favorite movie on Netflix/Disney+. Whatever the Mom in your life wants to do, let her have her day.

8. And one last thing that maybe technology can’t do, make sure you tell her how much you love and appreciate all that she does, especially during this crazy time!! Go around the dinner table and have each person say one (or more) things they love about Mom, it will definitely make her feel special.
