Months ago I actually had a neighbor mention to me there was an app called Heal where you could schedule an at home doctor visit that was covered by insurance, but I thought it was too good to be true. Then Heal reached out to me and after looking at all the details, in great length, I realized that it was all true.

We were able to experience Heal first hand and I am here to tell you that we are now huge fans of this service. But before I give you all the details of our visit, I want to explain a little about the company so you can schedule your next appointment with ease, relieving any stress this season…

WHAT IS HEAL? Heal is a house call and telemedicine service with licensed, caring, qualified doctors where appointments can be made via their website or their user friendly app.

WHY IS HEAL CONVENIENT? With Heal you no longer have to wait weeks to see your general physician or run to Urgent Care to see a doctor that doesn’t know you. All you have to do is log into their website, or download their app, enter a little information and make an appointment. They have options for a sick apt, well check and more. You can also choose between an at home visit or a virtual check up. As a mom, this convenience is a huge bonus for me! I can’t tell you how many times we have had to run to an after hours clinic on the weekend because our pediatrician’s office was closed. Or the fact that I don’t have to take the kids with me if I need a check up is a total score.

HEAL ADHERES TO ALL COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS No more waiting rooms sitting next to sick patients because the doctor comes to you. Heal adheres to all COVID-19 health and safety protocols. They wear full PPE, monitor symptoms twice daily and fully sanitize all equipment between appointments.

WHAT OTHER REASONS WOULD MAKE YOU CHOOSE HEAL? Heal doctors spend the time you need to discuss your health history and all the questions you need to ask, rather than feeling rushed at a normal doctor’s office. You can also request to see the same doctor again to build an even better relationship. During our visit the doctor made sure to take her time asking lots of questions to get to know us better and also made sure she answered all of my questions. I didn’t feel like she was in a rush to see another patient, which was a breath of fresh air.

WHAT DOES HEAL COST? This was the clincher for me, Heal is covered by most insurance plans!! They accept some of the largest insurance plans – Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Humana, Health Net, UnitedHealthcare AND they also accept Medicare/Medicare Advantage PPO plans. If you don’t have insurance their prices for a visit are still affordable; $79 for a virtual visit and $159 for a house visit. Shots or blood work are additional, but all costs are up front and there are no surprise bills after your visit.

HOURS OF OPERATION? Heal is open 365 days a year from 8am-8pm!

OUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH HEAL: We had an in person wellness Doctor visit for Rosie so I could experience Heal first hand. Rosie is always the most nervous to go to a Doctor’s office, so she was excited to have it be in the comfort of her own home. Rosie is also the first one out of our family to get sick, so I wanted to get the advice of a medical professional on how to boost her immune system this cold/flu season.

I scheduled the appointment on my computer, then got text reminders throughout the week. Once the day of the appointment arrived I received another text giving me a smaller window on when the Doctor would arrive. They showed up right on time wearing protective gear and ready to set up wherever we were most comfortable. I kept all the doors in the house open for better ventilation and we decided to do the visit in the comfort of our living room, but they also gave us the option to do the entire visit outside.

The Doctor came with an assistant that was able to do Rosie’s measurements like height, weight, temperature and more. She was super sweet with her, giving lots of high 5’s to make Rosie feel more comfortable. The Doctor chatted with me about Rosie’s medical history and gave me a plethora of ideas on how to boost her immunity. I was able to take notes and will be implementing all her suggestions into our lives on a daily basis. The overall experience was so simple from start to finish and I was so relieved that Rosie felt comfortable and at ease during the visit. I couldn’t believe it was all going to be just the cost of a normal doctor visit, without all the hassle.

WHY I LOVE HEAL: In my opinion, Heal is going to be the perfect solution for our entire family, not just for the kids. If mom (or dad) get sick it is going to be much easier to have a house call rather than having to take the kids to an appointment. They are able to do most tests that the Doctor’s office would; think someone has an ear infection, they can check for that. Wondering if someone has strep throat? They can check for that too. Need a wellness check like we did? You can schedule that and even request the same Doctor for next time too.

I honestly feel like Heal is the best solution for any kind of Doctor visits. Avoid germy offices, get quality Doctor’s in your home, use your insurance/always know the cost up front, even get vaccines or flu shots with no lines.
