Snow Much Fun at The Discovery Cube

“Baby it’s cold outside”

Calling all Southern California residents, it’s going to be SNOW much fun at The Discovery Cube this winter. At both the Orange County and Los Angeles locations snow will be falling during their second annual Winter Wonderfest. The fun begins December 17th and runs until January 8, 2017. The snow exhibit will allow kids of all ages to learn the science behind sledding down ice ramps, weather and how snow is formed through hands on activities.

I’m not sure who is going to be more excited about the huge 75 foot long ramp that you speed down with inner tubes, me or my kids? The child in me is secretly hoping to be able to beat my hubby down the giant slope, I’ll let you know who wins!;) “Do you wanna build a snowman” instead? Not to worry, if big ramps aren’t your style, there are snow play areas with tools to build your very own snowman, snow castle, or snow angels. There will also be a designated area for snow sledding, which I think will be perfect for our younger one. For those that want to dig a little deeper into their science side, there will also be learning stations which include “Animal Adaptations to the Cold,” “Three States of Water,” and “Cloud in a Bottle.” There truly is something for everyone during the Winter Wonderfest.

Want to warm up and try your luck with learning about the science of gingerbread making? Well, you are in luck, because inside the cube there are all sorts of activities revolving around gingerbread. Local companies, schools, families, and organizations are invited to build their own gingerbread house and enter the competition. The entries will all be displayed throughout The Cube, proving that there is more than just frosting involved, its science at work.

Also part of the gingerbread fun there is the Gingerbread Derby Competition, we did this one last year and my son had a blast. There is the Matter of Taste stage show, Cookie Decorating (my personal favorite) and Build a House Learning Station. There will also be special appearances from Santa Clause through December 24th, before he has to head out for the busiest night of the year of course!;)

If you have never been to the Discovery Cube you are missing out! I have written about them before and how much fun we always have when going there. Our son asks to go probably once a week, which is why we became members of the cube last year. You can find all the perks and bonuses on their website. This event, and really all of their events are committed to bring leaning and fun together in a family friendly atmosphere.
